Sanna Ripatti (f. 1975) has been a member of the Ensemble MidtVest since it was founded in 2002.
She has twice been awarded prizes at the Danish Recording Sector’s annual competition, the so-called P2 Prize.In 2005, Sanna founded the Talisker Quartet which won the third prize at Danish Broadcasting’s chamber music competition in 2006 and which she was touring with in Canada, Sweden, and Denmark.
As a member of the Kroger Quartet, Sanna in 2008 recorded Per Nørgård’s String Quartets nos. 7, 8, 9, and 10. According to Danish daily paper Politiken, this CD “set standards”, while Berlingske Tidende selected it as one of the ten best classical experiences of that year.
Sanna was awarded a special prize for the best performance of contemporary music at the Nordic Viola Competition in Helsinki in 2001. She has played at festivals in Sweden, Finland, and Germany.
Sanna has studied the viola with Diemut Poppen, and Eduard Brunner at the Hochschule für Musik in Saarbrücken, and with Björn Sjögren at the Edsberg Music Institute in Stockholm.
