Jonathan Slaatto (f. 1977) has been a member of the Ensemble MidtVest since it was founded in 2002.
As a member of Trio Ondine, he was awared first and second prizes at international competitions such as the ARD Music Competition in München, the Melbourne International Music Competition, the Joseph Haydn Competition in Vienna, and the London Parkhouse Award. Moreover, he has played at The Wigmore Hall, the Berlin Konzerthaus, the Radio Hall in Frankfurt, the Prades Festival, the Aldeburgh Festival, Canadian Orford Festival, and the MIDEM fair in Cannes.
Trio Ondine was DR Artist of the Year in 2001/2002 as well as Artists in Residence at the Philharmonic Hall in Duisburg. They formed part of the BBC New Generation Artists Programme.
As a soloist, Jonathan has performed with among others the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and the Danish National Symphony Orchestra / DR.
Jonathan has held a master class at the Lake District Festival in England as well as chamber music lessons at The Royal Danish Conservatory of Music in Copenhagen.
Jonathan has studied the cello with Torleif Thedéen at the Edsberg Music Institute in Stockholm as well as chamber music with the Alban Berg Quartet in Cologne and Ralf Gothoni in Helsinki.
