Born 1971 in Hamburg (Germany).
After managing Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen for three years, Oliver took on the job as manager of the Ensemble MidtVest on 1st October 2006. It was not difficult for him to feel homely in Jutland, as he had spent many holidays during his childhood in the area around Ry, where he now is living.
However, he was even more attracted by the special structure and profile of the Ensemble MidtVest. Still today, he feels challenged by taking on a leading role in the realisation of the ensembles ambitious plans to develop music projects that cross various boundaries.
Oliver has always enjoyed working together with young musicians. Already at the beginning of his career he worked in the orchestra office of his own arts academy in Berlin, where he studied the flute from 1994 to 1997. In 1997 he started his first “real” job at the Young German Philharmonic Orchestra in Frankfurt. In 1999 he changed to the Orchestra Academy of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, where approximately 120 young musicians (16 to 26 years old) from all over the world get together at Salzau Castle near Kiel each summer. Oliver moved to Denmark in 2003 to become the manager of Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen, and from 2005 to 2010, he was a manager of the Danish National Youth Ensemble / DR. In 2011, he founded the Holstebro Masterclasses. Once a year, young Danish chamber music groups have the opportunity to get tuition by international musicians and ensembles.
Oliver likes to spend his limited leisure time with reading, hiking, or kayaking, but also with family or friends, be it at home in Germany or in his summer house in the south of Sweden.
